History

SEIHOKU has been making effort to stably supply high quality wooden building material since the start of business in 1954.　And since 1967, many companies in the same industry joined our group co-owning our corporate philosophy.　We, SEIHOKU provide our know-how and technology guaranteed by the acquisition of ISO09001, ISO14001 which is global standard in order to fulfill the society that is conscious to the recycling of limited resources.

History

1954

Nov: Hiroshi Inoue established SEIHOKU VENEER KOGYO CORPORATION with 2 Million Yen in capital

Dec: Built veneer production factory in Adachi-ku, Tokyo

1956

Oct: Started production of plywood in full-line operation

1963

Sep: Hiroshi Inoue established SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION with 10 Million Yen in capital and built veneer factory in Koto-ku, Tokyo

1966

Oct: Built thin veneer production factory in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Pref.

1969

Mar: Built Ishinomaki 2nd factory producing plywood for concrete forms

1972

Jul: Built Ishinomaki 3rd factory producing plywood for structural use

1973

Feb: Established SEIHOKU UNYU CORPORATION in Yashio,Saitama Pref. and built Yashio Logistics Center

1975

Jul: Built Head Offices Building in Hongo, Bunkyo-ku,Tokyo and concentrated the head quarters of the group companies

1978

May: Established TOHOKU SECCHAKUZAI CORPORATION in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo with the aim of supplying adhesive to SEIHOKU GROUP

1983

May: Established SEIHOKU ISHINOMAKI UNYU CORPORATION and built Ishimnomaki Logistics Center

1988

Dec: Established SEIHOKU COAT CORPORATION in Ishinomaki and ROSE COAT CORPORATION in Yashio by spinning out plywood coating & processing divisions

1990

Jan: Built PB (Particle Board) factory in Ishinomaki

Apr: Changed company's name to SEIHOKU CORPORATION

April: Established SEIHOKU HOME CORPORATION building 2X4 Houses

1991

Dec: Built LVL factory (SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION) in Ishinomaki

1995

Jun: Built MDF factory in Ishinomaki

1996

Jan: Built conifer veneer factory (SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION) in Ishinomaki

1999

Apr: Atsuhiro Inoue became President & CEO of SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION
Established SEIHOKU LOGISTICS CORPORATION by the merger of SEIHOKU UNYU CORPORATION and SEIHOKU ISHINOMAKI UNYU CORPORATION

Dec: Awarded the 1st Eco Products Awards (by The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award)

2000

Nov: Plywood Division and PB · MDF Division acquired ISO9001

2001

Aug: Built Seihoku Kankyo Techno Center in Ishinomaki and established co-generation system

Jun: ROSE COAT CORPORATION was merged to SEIHOKU COAT CORPORATION

Nov: Established SEIHOKU BUILD CORPORATION in koga and started production of pre-cut component for housing

2004

Oct: Awarded the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Award 2004 (by The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award)

Dec: Awarded the 1st Eco Products Awards (by The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award)

2005

Sep: Extended long conifer veneer line in Ishinomaki 1st factory

2006

Jan: Built biomass energy plant in Ishinomaki

Aug: Established SEIHOKU BUILD CORPORATION producing pre-cut component for housing in Tagajyo, Miyagi Pref.

2007

Dec: Built veneer production factory using domestic lumber (SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION) in Ishinomaki

2008

Mar: Acquired veneer production factory using domestic lumber (SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION) in Ishinomaki

Aug: Built the Seihoku Gallery,Yayoi Auditorium Annex in The University of Tokyo

Sep: Awarded the Shokumon Award 2008 (by The University of Tokyo)

2011

Feb: Awarded the Grand Prize of Use of Renewable Energy in Tohoku, Biomass Energy Section (by The Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry)

Oct: Awarded the Kizukai Promotion 2011 (by A letter of appreciation from The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries)

2012

Jan: Acquired 11.2ha of forest in Tome, Miyagi Pref.

Mar: SEIHOKU CORPORATION acquired the COC Certification of the FSC and the COC Certification of the PEFC

Apr: Closed down SEIHOKU WITH CORPORATION

Oct: Awarded the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Award 2012 (by The Prime Minister Award)

2014

May: Established FORESTRY DEPT. (FORESTRY & MATERIAL SUPPLY DEPT.)
Started thinning of the forest and producing of seedlings

Jul: Started approx. 870,000 kwh/y solar power generation in Nishihama-cho, Ishinomaki

Aug: Acquired 13.7ha of forest in Ishinomaki

Sep: Started approx. 350,000 kwh/y solar power generation in Shigeyoshi-cho, Ishinomaki

Nov: Started exporting domestic conifer plywood

2015

Sep: Established raising seedling facility including plastic greenhouse and seedling bench for 15,000 containers in Ishinomaki

2016

Apr: Started production of CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) in Ishinomaki (SEIHOKU PLYWOOD CORPORATION)

Sep: Acquired 51.2ha of forest in Tome

2017

Mar: Acquired the COC Certification of the SGEC instead of the PEFC

May: Established SEIHOKU TECH CORPRATION producing pre-cut component for housing in Koga and Tagajo.
Acquired 33.5ha of forest in Ishinomaki

Aug: Closed down SEIHOKU BUILD CORPORATION

2019

Feb: Acquired site for the new factory in Ishinomaki

Jun: Acquired naminig rights of the Ishinomaki General Athletic Park and named
“SEIHOKU PARK ISHINOMAKI ”

Sep: Awarded the National Forest Seedling Competition 2019 (by The Director General of Forestry Agency Award)

2020

Feb: Produced plywood with a thickness of 50mm (trademark CLP) and acquired the JAS (Japan Agricultural Standards) Certification for the first time in Japan

2022

Mar: Built Ishinomaki 4th factory producing plywood made from 100% domestic logs.
Extended raising seedling facilities including plastic greenhouse and seedling bench for 50,000 containers in Ishinomaki

May: Registered as an Ishinomaki Area SDGs Partner

2023

Mar: Construction and relocation of the new office for SEIHOKU HOME CORPORATION in Ishinomaki
